Voting: How it Works
Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe—to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. The 2025 survey was completed by nearly 180,000 T+L subscribers. Over 657,000 votes were cast for over 8,700 different properties (hotels cities cruise lines etc.).).
Based on their location, hotels were classified into resort hotel, city, inn or safari lodges. They were also rated according to the following criteria:
- Rooms/facilities
- Location
- Service
- Food
- You can also value
Respondents could rate each characteristic as excellent, above the average, average or below average. These responses are averaged to arrive at the final score.

What Readers Really Loved
It is important to note that the word “you” means “you”. German capital The city is always reinventing itself, but this year’s T+L readers preferred the tried-and true hotels to its new, trendy arrivals. Which is not to say that there were no surprises on this year’s list—only one property on this year’s survey appeared on last year’s World’s Best Awards list. The Grand Hyatt (No. 3), known for its unbeatable location near Potsdamer Platz square and its popular Japanese-meets-French Vox Restaurant. One reader said, “I loved my experience here”, and praised its “super comfortable beds”, among other features. The property is ranked No. 2, the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is a 1907-era grand dame with sweeping views of the Brandenburg Gate—and it’s the home of the two-starred Michelin restaurant Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer. The Hotel Adlon, Kempinski Berlin has also the most suites of any hotel in Germany.

In its almost 70-year-old history, the high-rise has hosted everyone from Alfred Hitchcock to Bill Clinton and Tom Hanks. After a 64-million Euro renovation (roughly $71 million USD), this 558-room high-rise hotel has a new look, including modernized rooms, a redesigned lobby, and a revamped Marlene restaurant and cocktail bar (named for Berlin-born actress Marlene Dietrich). Hugo on the 14th-floor of the hotel, which is a Michelin-starred establishment, remains largely unchanged except for some fresh interior design features. The creative menu, however, continues to be the focus. “Everything I ate was delicious,” said one guest. “I love the hotel!” One guest praised the “excellent service and attention to detail” as well as the “great location” near Berlin Zoo and Brandenburg Gate.
