And while there’s been a steady clip of new openings across the country—from Oaxaca to Cancun—when it comes to city hotels, There are a few places that T+L readers love to visit. This year’s WBA honorees are all located in San Miguel de Allende or Mexico City, two of our readers’ favourite cities in Mexico.

Over in San Miguel de Allende—the No. 1 city this year according to readers, that’s roughly 3.5 hours northeast in the highlands of Guanajuato—WBA voters praised two hotels that imbue the guest experience with true Mexican culture at every turn. Casa de Sierra Nevada, A Belmond Hotel (No. The No. 3 hotel, which was the top of this list in 2023 is all about providing next-level services. One reader said, “One of my best hotel experiences ever.” “They went beyond and did it again and again.” They are the best. I cannot recommend them highly enough. The staff is able to provide top-notch hospitality by maximizing every interaction, whether it’s leaving paper bookmarks on a guest’s bookshelf or guiding them through a local market prior to a lesson in traditional cooking.

In the hotel category, it takes a spectacular property to win back-to-back World’s Best Awards. For the second year running, this collection of 67 residences, suites and rooms has achieved that feat. Design elements such as colorful artwork and hand-carved furniture reflect the town’s longstanding craft traditions. Guests are invited to attend workshops and classes taught by local artisans. For those who prefer to explore the countryside, a sunrise hot air balloon ride or a guided horseback riding led by local ranchers are available. Kids can also join the fun by participating in cooking classes, farm tours, and crafts. WBA voters raved about the Rosewood employees who helped plan our activities.
