    The temperature is dropping and the leaves are changing. Everyone’s favorite foods are also making a return. It’s finally fall—The spooky Season for those who celebrate—and many are looking for their next festive fall adventure. Why not try one of America’s most haunted places instead of the usual haunted house or pumpkin patch? Welcome to St. Augustine, Florida. 

    As one of the oldest cities in the U.S., St. Augustine is rich in history—and with that history comes ghost stories, legends, and plenty of eerie encounters. This historical coastal town is the perfect place to enjoy a fun and spooky Halloween.

    Haunted Hotel Stay

    If you have limited time for a weekend trip, the hotel is an important part of your adventure. The hotel is located in the historic center of downtown. Casa Monica Resort & Spa is not only beautiful—it’s also rumored to be haunted.

    Built in 1888, this 138-room property has a charming old-world feel with modern comfort. The Spanish Baroque-style rooms feature red velvet headboards, antique furniture and antique-inspired decor. Cordova is a restaurant that serves Spanish and Moroccan coastal food. You’ll also find a fitness center and the Poseidon spa on site. In October, guests can enjoy themed spa treatments, such as the Monster Mash Massage or Drop Dead Gorgeous Facial. There are also ghost stories told in the Cobalt Lounge and a magic show.

    Rumors say that the hotel is haunted by several spirits. These include a man sobbing in the Kessler Suite who was thought to be Franklin W. Smith’s original owner, as well as former prisoners during the time the building served as a courthouse. When booking, you can request a “haunted” room. Be aware that some guests didn’t make it through the night.

    Beetlejuice pub crawl: the perfect way to end your evening

    Check out if you want to laugh along with your scares. The Beetlejuice Pub CrawlThe Tasting Tours hosts this event. This nearly three-hour experience takes up to 16 guests to four different bars—all led by Beetlejuice himself. Four ghost-themed cocktails, spooky bites for sharing (but no full meal), and plenty of fun are to be expected. This tour is only available in October and tickets are limited.
