The Great Wolf Lodge Mashantucket opened officially in Connecticut. This is the 23rd Great Wolf Lodge in North America. The resort is located adjacent to Foxwoods Casino and marks the first Great Wolf Lodge resort in Connecticut. It’s also the third resort in the Northeast.
The resort’s 549 rooms offer a variety of family adventures including a 92,000 square foot indoor water park and 61,000 square feet adventure park. A collection of retail and dining options are also available under one roof. The resort offers the brand’s next-generation experience with a water-coaster, a family rafting adventure in the region, a multilevel course with zipline and a virtual-reality attraction.
The $300 million investment made by Blackstone Real Estate and Centerbridge Partners enabled the resort to be built. The investment has created over 500 full—and part-time jobs at the resort. The resort is expected to attract more than a half-million families to the area annually, contributing to local economies.
In addition to the new “next generation” Great Wolf Lodge experiences, the resort offers a variety of other amenities, such as an indoor water park, a Great Wolf Adventure Park family entertainment center, and s a storytelling experience that takes place in the Grand Lobby. The dining options include pizza, burgers and full-service dining in Fireside. Premium ice cream is available at Wood’s End Creamery. There are also 549 family suites in a modern design with various categories.
The Great Wolf Lodge Mashantucket’s opening represents an important achievement in diversifying the economy of the region and strengthening it. The resort will likely catalyze job growth and economic growth. The grand opening celebration included a donation of $52,000 by the resort to Make-A-Wish Connecticut.
