New research reveals the top U.S. cities for veterans to live. The No. South Carolina is the top destination for 2025.
After their military service is completed, members of the U.S. Military will have to make some big decisions. They need to decide where they’ll live when they retire from the military. Veterans United Home Loans is the largest VA lender of the U.S. and compiles this information each year. Best Cities for Veterans to Live listThe list, which was shared on Monday, includes 2025.
The website surveys veterans every quarter to find out what factors they consider most important when choosing a place to call home. It then analyzes over 500 metropolitan areas on 23 factors including housing affordability, cost of living, quality of the life and whether there is a strong Veteran Community. All of these are important to Veterans when choosing a place to live.
After all this, the magazine named Myrtle Beach – Conway – North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina as the No. Veterans can live in the No. 1 place.
Chris Birk Vice President of Mortgage Insight at Veterans United Home Loans said, “Our analysis is based on the things Veterans told us are most important, such as affordability, health care and community connection, along with quality of life.” “This years’ top cities reflect an increasing interest in coastal living. But they also offer the support, stability and opportunity that Veterans, their families and other residents need to begin their next chapter.”
South Carolina won because of its affordable median home prices of $324.900, high quality of living scores, and high veteran community scores. AreaVibes Myrtle Beach is also given a high Livability score for its low cost-of-living, with a rating of B+. Healthcare gets an A+ and Housing a B+. The report also stated that there are many great amenities in the area for everyone to enjoy.
AreaVibes explains: “Within walking distance, you will find a variety of amenities including restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, and local shops. All are easily accessible.” The platform only gave the region an F for its long commutes. It also received an F for its high crime rate and low employment opportunities.
Myrtle Beach topped the list of Veterans Home Loans, followed by Atlantic City/Hammonton (New Jersey), Lawrence, Kansas, Sioux Falls and Battle Creek in Michigan. The full report and list can be found at veteransunited.com.
