    Munich is the most walkable town in the World

    A vacation is about getting out and discovering a new place. If you have the time, lace up your shoes and go for a long, leisurely walk. Not every city is designed for walking. Lisbon is a city that’s not for walking.

    There are places where you can walk all day. There are some places where walking all day is not only possible, but encouraged. Compare the Market AU Munich is the perfect place for a walk.

    Methodology
    Home loan marketplace released its list of most walkable cities around the world. In order to find out which cities were the most pedestrian friendly, they analyzed a variety of destinations using several factors. These included: rainfall totals in the city, number of walking routes, individual safety scores, cost of public transport, biking paths, costs of public transit, and number of car free places. It tallied the data and named Munich as the most walkable city. 

    The findings stated that “Munich, nestled in the middle of Bavaria is the world’s most walkable city, for many reasons.” The city’s hundreds of miles worth of bike paths and the fact that 86% of its residents live within 1km of a car free space were among the reasons cited.

    Munich’s public transit is the third most costly, but it ranks fourth for safety. This is crucial when you are walking. 

    Milan, Italy is a close second, with high marks for the fact that 80 percent of its population lives within a kilometer of educational and health services.

    Warsaw in Poland, which is also a compact city, rounded out the top 3. Public transport here is also affordable, with one-way tickets costing around $1.

    Tokyo breaks up the European dominance by ranking No. 6. Madrid was ranked 7th, followed by Oslo and Copenhagen. Amsterdam rounded out the top 10 list. 

    New York City is the top-ranked U.S. City and Sydney comes in at number 11. 34.
