As the United States completes its recognition of National Volunteer Month, Marriott International today announced it has exceeded its volunteerism goal of 15 million hours served around the world – one year ahead of schedule – supporting the company’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction. Marriott associates have completed 15.6 million hours of volunteer work in their local communities from 2016 to 2024.
Marriott has served the world since its foundation nearly 100 years back. I am grateful to all of our Marriott associates, Business Councils and owners who have been so thoughtful and creative in their support for the communities they live and work in. “Their dedication to service and volunteerism has had a profound effect on the communities in which we live and work,” stated Anthony Capuano – President and Chief executive officer, Marriott International. “We are celebrating this incredible milestone and remain focused on maintaining momentum in order to be a force of good for the world.
Marriott’s portfolio of properties, as well as corporate offices in other countries, contributed to a shared goal via partnerships with non-profits, volunteer service and fundraising events for charity. The ongoing volunteer efforts were aimed at delivering positive impacts through the four Serve 360 priority area or “coordinates”, which are: Nurture Our World; Sustain Responsive Operations; Empower Through Opportunity and Welcome All, and Advance Human Rights.

Marriott also works with local partners to support their efforts. In the aftermath of hurricanes Helene and Milton, 2024, hotels in neighboring towns from North Carolina and Florida donated over 1,700 volunteer hours, along with in-kind donations such as food and water that could be stored, clothing and hygiene products, and boxed lunches to help city workers clean up debris. In 2023, Marriott’s Business Councils and hotels provided over 15,000 volunteer hours to support relief efforts for those impacted by the wildfires in Maui, Hawaii, and over 37,000 volunteer hours following the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.
