Marriott has turned its mobile apps, websites and TVs in hotel rooms into advertising space. Marriott became the world’s first major hotel group on Thursday to launch an advertising network for guests and members of its loyalty programs.
The world’s largest hospitality company started testing ad sales with brands including United Airlines’ Resy, Uber’s, Visa’s, Amazon’s Audible and Starbucks’ Audible months ago.
Marriott has followed retailers like Walmart, DoorDash, and United Airlines by monetizing the data of its customers with ad network.
“If we scale the platform to the 1 million rooms we have in the U.S. and Canada, our scale might be equivalent to a top-10 network,” said Peggy Roe, Marriott’s chief customer officer.

Advertising to Travelers
Advertisers may place ads on Marriott.com, the Marriott App, marketing emails Marriott sends guests, or on Wi-Fi log in pages. Advertisers can reach Marriott customers when they search for sites such as Instagram.
In tests, Gatorade ran ads enco
