The cascades of water dance over the span of nearly 200 feet, dancing and prancing amongst the forest of lush, green trees. 500 feet wide. The clear waters of the sea below form emerald-colored pools, while the soothing sound of each drop as it travels through the water calms the mind and awakens the senses.

Plitvice Park, Croatia’s Plitvice national park, Bali and Hawaii are just a few of the places where Mother Earth has created tropical waterfall scenes. The most unlikely of places is Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is hard to believe that the nation in south-eastern Europe, which sits on Balkan Peninsula, has only been a nation for less than 30 years. The Bosnian War was over just ten years ago. Despite its difficult history, the country has always been known for its beauty. One of the most beautiful examples can be found here. Kravica Waterfalls, or Kravica vodopadi.

The waterfalls, located about an hour south of Mostar (arguably Europe’s most beautiful medieval city), are awe-inspiring. They’ve been compared to everything from the mini Niagara Falls to Europe’s Bali.

After all, they somehow seamlessly combine all the idyllic elements, from a setting so lush it feels like a tropical jungle oasis to falling waters that mesmerize as they tumble from the Trebižat River over a ledge of about 100 feet. The falls are rounded and create an amphitheater-like cascade, which invites visitors to experience its magic.

Kravica Falls is an amazing natural phenomenon that each person experiences in their own unique way. While some people take a plunge and play in the water, others simply relax and admire its beauty. Some explore the nooks and corners of the area, taking leisurely walks to hidden grottos with calcium-carbonate stalactites or strolling by its nearby mill. Some people like to go on an adventure by canoeing down the river, or hiking along the paths.

The landmark is difficult to reach without a vehicle. GetYourGuide Tours are available that visit the falls and include stops in the largest cities of the region. From Mostar the eight-hour tour From Dubrovnik in Croatia, the tour includes a visit of the old towns of Blagaj & Pocitelj followed by two hours at the waterfalls. a 12-hour experience The tour includes a stop in Mostar, followed by an hour long visit to the falls. Also, tours depart from Trogir, Split and Sarjevo.

One of the tours states that the experience at the fallsIt is a paradise of fun and a haven of life. Everyone’s favorite.
