IKEA has become a household name for its affordable flat-pack furniture and modern Scandinavian designs.
IKEA was founded in Sweden by Ingvar kamprad in 1943. It now operates in more than 60 countries, has hundreds of stores, and has a strong presence online.
The company’s goal is to offer well-designed home solutions that work at affordable prices to “create a more enjoyable everyday life for everyone”. IKEA’s unique self-service model, in-house design of products, and immersive showrooms are its most renowned features.
IKEA has ambitious sustainability goals. These include reducing the company’s climate footprint by 50% by 2030 (compared with FY16 as a baseline year), and at least 90% by 2050.
Following the Festival, all furniture provided for the event by IKEA will be returned to an IKEA store in London for resale in the retailer’s Re-Shop and Re-Use – a circular hub where customers can buy or sell pre-owned, returned, or discontinued IKEA furniture at a lower price. This area is intended to promote circularity, by reducing the amount of waste and giving old furniture a second chance.
