IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has announced the signing of a management agreement for voco Al Mouj Muscat, a 251-key beachfront resort set to open in Q4 2025. The deal, which is a partnership between Golden Group Holding and IHG, marks the first time the voco name has been signed in Oman. This will further expand IHG’s portfolio of premium hotels across the Middle East.
The new resort is located centrally in Al Mouj Muscat, the Omani capital, which is a vibrant waterfront neighbourhood known for its luxury residences and yacht marinas, championship golf courses, and high-end retailers. It will be able to cater both to leisure and business travelers. The resort’s strategic location makes it an ideal addition to Oman’s growing hospitality industry. It is close to Muscat’s international airport and cultural landmarks.
Voco, IHG’s fastest growing premium brand, was launched in 2018. It has already made its mark across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The brand is known for its bold design and thoughtful touches. It combines the personality of individual hotels with a trusted global brand, giving guests a consistently different experience. The opening of voco Al Mouj Muscat adds to the growing portfolio of over 100 hotels worldwide and a pipeline of 95 properties.
Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, IHG Hotels & Resorts, India, Middle East & Africa, said: “We are thrilled to bring the voco Brand to Oman as a partnership with Golden Group Holding. Al Mouj Muscat, one of the most exciting lifestyle destinations in the region, is a great fit for voco. Its unique charm and premium hospitality offerings are a perfect match. This signing is a reflection of our commitment to support Oman Vision 2040 and contribute to the country’s tourism and economic diversity strategy.
Sheikh Salem Al Ghazal added as Chairman of Golden Group Holding. “Our partnership with IHG in introducing voco into Oman represents a significant step forward in our journey to enhance Muscat’s hospitality offerings. The blend of informality and global quality of voco perfectly complements Al Mouj’s dynamic spirit. “We look forward to building a hotel which reflects Omani hospitality and embodies excellence. We also hope that it will attract travellers from around the world.”
When voco Al Mouj Muscat opens later this summer, it will feature 251 elegantly decorated rooms and suites. There will be five distinct dining experiences, including an all-day eating venue, specialty restaurant and lobby bar. The hotel will also feature three meeting rooms, a spa, swimming pool, fitness centre, business centre, ample parking, and a barber shop – providing guests with a well-rounded premium stay experience.
IHG operates nine hotels in Oman under five different brands, including Six Senses InterContinental Crowne Plaza Hotel Indigo Holiday Inn. Three more hotels are in the pipeline and will open in the next 3 to 5 years.
