Hyatt announced that Hyatt expects around 50% rooms growth across new and existing markets in Africa by the end of 2030.
Hyatt has seen a 51% increase in rooms over the last two years. This growth was mainly due to the addition of new properties and landmark properties. These included Park Hyatt Marrakech, introducing the luxury brand to Morocco; Hyatt Centric Cairo West, the brand’s debut on the continent; Hyatt Regency Harare – The Meikles, Hyatt’s first hotel in Zimbabwe; and Hyatt Regency Nairobi Westlands, its first hotel in Kenya.
Hyatt place Nairobi Westlands, and Hyatt house Nairobi Westlands, opened in March 2025 along Lower Kabete Road. Hyatt has opened its first dual-branded property in Africa. It offers guests two unique stay experiences, all within one building, minutes away from Westgate Mall and the Nairobi National Museum.
“Last Year marked a breakthrough for Hyatt Africa and we’re only getting started,” said Stephen Ansell, Director-General, Hyatt Middle East & Africa. “Our focus on strategic growth across key leisure- and business-hubs reflects our commitment to having hotels in the places where World of Hyatt member and our guests most want to travel.” As we grow, we will continue to deliver high-quality hospitality services that resonate with global travelers and local community members.
Hyatt will debut new hotels in the region within the next two decades, including the openings of Hyatt Regency Lagos Ikeja in Nigeria. In addition, the launch of Park Hyatt Johannesburg The Winston Hotel will undergo a major renovation later this year. The luxury property is set to include 31 guestrooms. It will be popular among business and leisure travellers, providing an elevated experience of home away from home with highly personalized, intuitive and fully engaged services.
This is a thrilling chapter in Hyatt’s growth in Africa, as hotels with intent are added in highly sought-after destinations,” said Felicity Black-Roberts is Senior Vice President, Development, Hyatt EAME. We are pleased to work with our owners to introduce Hyatt’s diverse brands in both established and new markets throughout the region.
