Hotel Kinsley Joins Global Design Hotels™ Collection and Debuts Assembly—A 450-Person Venue Fusing Culture, Art, and Community in Kingston, NY

Hotel Kinsley, Kingston’s first destination hotel, has officially joined the global Design Hotels™ collection—a curated network of independent properties known for bold design, local connection, and immersive guest experiences. As a member of Design Hotels™, Hotel Kinsley joins a global community of design-forward, culturally rooted stays that emphasize originality over uniformity. Guests can expect a boutique experience with thoughtful design, local immersion, and one-of-a-kind character—far from the standard hotel template. The partnership also opens access to Marriott Bonvoy® benefits, allowing loyalty members to earn and redeem points while staying at Hotel Kinsley.

Located in Kingston’s historic Stockade District, Hotel Kinsley is made up of four restored 19th-century buildings—301 Wall Street, 41 Pearl Street, 270 Fair Street (and 24 John Street—that blend original architectural charm with modern comforts. The flagship location—formerly the State Bank of New York—was designed in collaboration with Studio Robert McKinley and welcomes guests with a distinctive check-in experience inside the original bank vault. Aviva and Vanessa Blaichman of TOCCI designed the other buildings of the Hotel Kinsely, based on Studio Robert McKinley’s design concepts.

Ironwave Hospitality Management operates the hotel. It has 42 guest rooms that are layered with vintage furniture, curated art, and luxurious amenities. The rooms are equipped with fireplaces and soaking bathtubs. This creates a cozy retreat for the guests. Restaurant Kinsley is a New American seasonal restaurant and cocktail bar that’s popular among locals as well as travelers.

Assembly is a cultural and events venue that has just opened on the top level of an historic former schoolhouse. 236 Wall Street. The space honors the building’s original character—soaring ceilings, exposed brick, and arched windows—while offering modern functionality with a built-in stage, state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, and flexible layout options. Assembly, with a capacity of 450 people, is ideal for art exhibitions, concerts, film showings, weddings and corporate events.

Assembly Conference Rooms provide a more intimate setting for retreats and off-site meetings. They can seat up to forty guests, and have full audiovisual capabilities.
