The Holiday Inn brand will make a comeback in Townsville, Australia, thanks to a collaboration between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Luxora Hotels. This move is part IHG’s strategy of expansion in Queensland.
By early 2026, the property located at the corner of Stanley Street and Flinders Street, in the CBD of Townsville, will undergo a comprehensive renovation. It will then become the Holiday Inn Townsville. The location of the hotel is close to the Queensland Tropics Museum and Townsville Yacht Club. It can serve both domestic and foreign visitors.
The renovated Holiday Inn Townsville, with its 93 rooms and conference and event facilities of a large size, will also house a modern all-day dining and a restaurant. Holiday Inn’s ‘Open Lobby Concept’ will be featured in the hotel. This dynamic and flexible space combines work, dining, and social areas.
The introduction of Holiday Inn in Townsville forms part of IHG’s larger expansion strategy in Queensland. The region is in a period of growth, and the Olympic events planned for Townsville will enhance its tourism and economic landscape. The city is also a hub for the mining, energy and defence industries. It’s a vibrant business destination.
Holiday Inn Townsville will positively impact the tourism and business sectors of the region. The project is a partnership with Luxora Hotels and La Vie Hotels and Resorts, which will operate the Hotel.
IHG Hotels & Resorts operates 76 hotels under nine brands in Australasia. Six Senses and InterContinental are among the nine brands. There are also 26 other properties in the pipeline.
