    CAPE TOWN (South Africa) – Coinciding with Future Hospitality Summit Africa 2025, Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced plans to almost triple its presence in Africa to more than 160 hotels trading in the coming years. Hilton, through its market-leading brands and a range of hotels, expects to create more than 100 new hotels in Africa. This will support the growing hospitality sector on the continent and provide 18,000 local jobs.

    Hilton debuts in Angola

    Hilton has made its Angolan debut with the signing of three properties – two in the capital city of Luanda under its flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand and affordable and upscale Hilton Garden Inn brand, as well as one in Cabinda with a property under its award-winning DoubleTree by Hilton brand.

    Hilton Luanda Hotel Godinho

    Hilton Luanda Hotel Godinho has been signed by Servicab S.A. in partnership with Hilton. The hotel will open in 2027 with 220 rooms and suites. The property, which will stretch along a 11,250-square metre beachfront and offer unobstructed ocean views, will also feature over 1,000 square meters of event space.

    Hilton Garden Inn Luanda Airport

    Hilton Garden Inn Luanda Airport was signed by Crestigo in partnership. Hilton Garden Inn Luanda Airport, which is scheduled to open by 2028, will include 200 guest rooms as well as an all-day restaurant and terrace. There will also be a fitness facility, a rooftop pool and bar. Business travellers will find the hotel convenient to both the Antonio Agostinho Neto International Airport as well as corporate business hubs.

    DoubleTree Cabinda Futila by Hilton Residences

    Hilton also signed a deal with Prodoil S.A. for the debut of its DoubleTree brand in Angola. The property will open in 2026, and it will feature 290 apartments including studios, two- and three-bedroom suits, and 10 oceanfront villas with three bedrooms. There will be a restaurant, swimming pool and natural lake.

    Hilton Markets to Open Additional Locations

    Hilton Cotonou

    In Benin, Hilton has signed an agreement to open Hilton Cotonou in partnership with the Republic of Benin, through the Société de Développement Hôtelier du Bénin (SDHB). Hilton has officially entered the Beninese hotel market with this landmark project.

    Hilton Cotonou, which is expected to open by 2028, will be located in a strategic location on Boulevard de la Marina. This is near the Congress Palace, important government offices and several embassies. The hotel will have 233 modern guest rooms and suites. It will also feature an all-day restaurant, a destination bar and terrace with a signature, a poolbar, a spa and an outdoor pool.

    It is estimated that the project will create several hundred jobs in hospitality and related industries. It will also improve Benin’s ability to host conferences and events internationally, reinforcing its ambition to become a hub for high-end business tourism and African business.

    Hilton & Hilton Garden Inn Antananarivo

    Hilton has signed agreements with two property owners in Madagascar. This marks Hilton’s return to the country. Hilton Antananarivo, located in the capital of Madagascar, is expected to open by 2028. It will have 170 rooms, a variety of dining options, six meeting rooms and a fitness center, as well as a spa, outdoor pool and a ballroom. Hilton Garden Inn Antananarivo, located further south, will be part a mixed-use project with retail and office space, making it perfect for both business and leisure travelers. Opening in 2027, this 120-guest-room hotel will have a restaurant, a bar and flexible meeting rooms. It will also feature a fitness centre and an outdoor pool.

    Hilton’s Nigeria Expansion

    The Wave Hotel Abuja Jabi Curio by Hilton

    The Wave Hotel Abuja Jabi is located in Jabi – one of Abuja’s most popular neighborhoods. It features 93 beautifully appointed guest rooms as well as an outdoor pool and wellness centre. The hotel, which is being developed in partnership with The Wave Hotel Limited by OpCo, will open in 2026. It’s only a 10-minute drive away from Abuja’s Commercial Business District. Curio Collection hotels are hand-picked for their unique stories, quality food and drink, and carefully curated experiences.

    Hilton Lagos Ikeja

    Hilton Lagos Ikeja is a partnership between Cornfield Group and Hilton. Hotel is situated in Ikeja’s government and residence hub. It is close to corporate offices, governmental offices, and Murtala Muhammed international airport. Slated to open in 2029, the hotel will feature 200 modern guest rooms and suites – and offers elevated dining options such as an all-day dining restaurant, a signature restaurant, a lobby bar, a pool bar & grill, and a destination bar. A spacious ballroom will be included in the hotel, as well as four meeting rooms and a fully-equipped fitness centre.

    Hilton Garden Inn in Kano

    The Hilton Garden Inn Kano, Kano’s very first international brand hotel is being built in partnership with Akhim Plus Limited. The hotel will have 100 rooms, meeting rooms that can be configured to suit your needs, an outdoor swimming pool, and fitness centre. The hotel is expected to open in the year 2029 and its location near the Government House and Emir’s Palace as well as the National Museum, Kano Race Course and Kano Golf Club makes it a great choice for both business and leisure travellers.

    West Africa and East Africa

    Hampton by Hilton Accra Airport

    Hilton has signed Hampton by Hilton Accra Airport with Amani International Hospitality Limited – bringing Hampton by Hilton’s award-winning hospitality to Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport. Hampton by Hilton Accra Airport, which will open in 2026, will feature 170 guestrooms, a fully-equipped fitness centre, outdoor pool and meeting rooms. The hotel also offers a dynamic social space with an open-concept and a 24/7 snacks shop. The hotel will be part of Airport Area Accra – a mixed use development that includes malls and corporate office space.

    Hilton Hotels and Business Plc. recently announced an agreement with Brighton Hotels and Business Plc. to open two properties – DoubleTree by Hilton Adama and DoubleTree by Hilton Dire Dawa – marking the first internationally branded hotels in the cities. Hilton has plans to open eight hotels in Ethiopia in 2028.

    Hilton announced its re-entry into Tanzania with the signing Canopy by Hilton Zanzibar The BurjIn partnership with CPS Live Limited. The lifestyle hotel, which is scheduled to open by 2027, will include 162 luxurious and sophisticated rooms and suites. Elevated dining areas, a range of amenities, and more. Located in the heart of Fumba Town and part of a mixed-use development, ‘BURJ Zanzibar,’ the property will offer unique experiences tailored to guests seeking authentic local experiences.

    North Africa

    Hilton is growing in North Africa and has plans to expand. triple its portfolio in Egypt In the coming years, Hilton is set to open more than 40 trading hotel across the country. Hilton will be opening a number of hotels in Morocco. more than double its portfolioHilton also recently signed a new DoubleTree by Hilton property in Fes, an ancient city whose medina is UNESCO World Heritage Site.     DoubleTree By Hilton Fes Golf

    Hilton plans to open DoubleTree Fes Golf 2028 in partnership with Le Clos de l’Atlas. The 109-guestroom property will be located near a golf course, and provide easy access to Fes’s many cultural attractions. The hotel is located near Fes’s Industrial Quarter and the upcoming Convention Centre, which makes it perfect for business travellers.

    Recent & Upcoming Openings

    Hilton South Africa recently opened Canopy by Hilton Cape Town Longkloof In partnership with Growthpoint Properties marks the debut of this lifestyle brand in South Africa. The hotel is located in the Longkloof Precinct and features 154 modern, spacious guest rooms. Each room is decorated with vibrant prints, bold art, and local design. Ideally situated in Cape Town’s City Bowl, the property offers easy access to Table Mountain, Camps Bay, and the V&A Waterfront. The hotel’s signature Ongetem restaurant is led by Bertus Basson and celebrates South African culinary tradition with bold, modern flair.

    Hilton recently opened in Hilton. DoubleTree by Hilton Addis Ababa Airport In Ethiopia. The property is located just minutes away from Bole AddisAbaba International Airport and offers a complimentary shuttle service, a rooftop bar, and close proximity to Millenium Hall, which hosts various events. Hilton opened its first Hampton by Hilton hotel in Africa last year in South Africa. Hampton by Hilton Sandton GraystonThe brand brings its friendly, authentic service to Johannesburg’s financial and retail district.

    Hilton plans to open its first hotel on the Ghanaian coast in 2019. Hilton Accra Cantonments High Street Development Company is a partner in the project. The hotel is located in Cantonments – an upscale area that houses multiple embassies. It will have 145 rooms, and offer a variety of dining options, including an all day dining restaurant, lobby lounge, and pool bar. The hotel offers a spa, outdoor pool, gym and more than 900 sqm of event space, including a boardroom, seven conference rooms, and an executive meeting room.
