Even when the camera isn’t rolling. Guy Fieri Will go the extra mile for a great meal. If he’s visiting Boston for business or to visit his family, he will go the extra mile. Connecticut restaurant at FoxwoodsHe makes a priority of a visit to Olneyville NY System Providence, Rhode Island is known for its hotdogs topped with meaty sauce, onions and celery.

“My mouth waters just thinking about it,” says the restaurateur, host and Food Network’s Diners Drive-Ins and Dives Since 2007 Travel + Leisure At a Waterloo Sparkling Water An event that took place in New York City this past month. “If I happen to be within range, we’ll divert.” No problem, we will get a dozen dogs.

The distance you travel is irrelevant when searching for the most delicious foods. “It is funny because Triple D [the show’s nickname]”I’m always taking a bite and saying that this meal is worth driving an hour to get,” he said.

Now, the 57 year-old has taken the love of flavor he’s developed for travel to a new level with a trio sparkling water flavors. WaterlooEach captures a location dear to their heart.

Columbus, Ohio born and raised in Northern California, television personality, has spent a lot of time in Colima. He says it is known as the “big volcano” of Mexico.

In his 20s his mom, a retired dental hygiene professional, and dad would go there with a shipping container filled with dental equipment. He explained that they were working in an orphanage with 500 children. “They would bring their dentist friends down and perform free dental work on orphans.”

While volunteering in the community, the family explored the Mexican coastal towns in the states Colima and Jalisco. They spent time on the beaches of these cities and even bought a home there. “We spent a lot of time in Mexico—love it there!” He said.

Hunter, Fieri’s son of 28 years, brought back a cup full of mixed fruits from a trip he made nearly two decades earlier. Fieri loved it. “He’s had pineapple, mango, watermelon – and you can definitely taste the difference,” said the food expert.

Hunter then revealed that the main ingredient was Tajin, which is a Mexican spice powder made with chili peppers lime and sea salt.

“I was like, ‘What are you doing? “Don’t add salty seasoning to that.” He remembered of his shock, “I take a bite and am like, ‘Whoa! You’ve got me laughing! It’s accentuated!”

Tajin was compared to salting a plain cream sauce. He explained that “a sprinkle of the seasoned spice mixture over the fruit takes it to the next step.”

Spiced Mango Sorbet is a flavor based on that fruity sensation.

Which is better, the window or the aisle?

    Window.

What is the best place to eat cheaply?
    Mexico.

    Best destination for fine dining?
    Italy.

The most underrated food city in the world?
    I love Chicago’s food city.

    What is your favorite restaurant?
La Scarola. It’s an excellent little Italian restaurant. It’s like walking into a gangster movie.

His wife grew up near his favorite hot dog place in North Providence. He said that Narragansett beach is a wonderful place to visit. “Coming originally from the West Coast I had never seen anything like it. East Coast beachesSo we would go there. Del’s Lemonade “Everyone has the same thing.”

In his Lemon Italian Ice, he wanted to recreate the nostalgic feeling of a summer day spent strolling along the boardwalk while holding a frozen snack. He focused on the best part of the fruit – “the peel of a lemon, where the essence and oil of lemon come from” – to create a flavor that was “far beyond anything anyone has ever done with soda water enhanced with citrus.”

It was more about finding a unique tart flavor than a specific location for the last flavor of the Waterloo Line. Fieri said that when you travel to a region with huckleberry you will find them everywhere. But if you move to the rest of the nation, it is not as common.

He believes he first saw the berry when he visited West Virginia where his father is from. It reminds him of the Appalachian region, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and other places. He also said he found them in Amish Country where they are the most abundant. “It’s one of those things that when it’s available, you find it everywhere—huckleberry jam in huckleberry restaurants that have it on their huckleberry pies.”

With that idea, he started thinking about the best way to enjoy the tart berry, and came up with the Huckleberry Cobbler flavor. “Waterloo has a big imagination. They were able take it and figure out how to make it,” said the host.

Fieri’s favorite flavor is the Spiced mango sorbet, because it reminds him of the way he taught his family to spice this tropical fruit.

The 51st season is now underway. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives airing now—and its season finale scheduled for May 23—Fieri is still searching for the best eats around the U.S. When he is back in Santa Rosa in NorCal, Fieri says that his favorite place to dine is “my home!”

Although he doesn’t go out to eat often, he has a favorite restaurant. Tomi Thai Windsor is nearby. “That’s exactly what I had the night before,” he told us during our interview on April 10. It is run by an amazing family and they are as busy as possible. “We couldn’t get them on Triple D!”

Fieri, despite his extensive travels around the globe, has still not tasted all the foods he wants to, including Turkey.

No matter where he is in the world, his chef pal will show him the way. “If I were to go to Thailand it would be Jet Tila“, he said. “If I were going to China, then it would be Ming Tsai. If I were going to Japan, I would choose Shota Nakajima. If I were going to Italy, it was probably Antonio La Fauci. I could take around the globe!”

Good food leaves an impression wherever he goes. After I mentioned that his portrait was painted all over a mural in San Jose (California), he jumped on me and shouted: “Falafel’s Drive-In!” It was “one of the most neatly decorated falafel joints that I’ve ever visited!”
