A popular pool in Las Vegas has been reopened.
The pool was closed at the end last year’s season. Go PoolThe adults-only pool at the Flamingo Las Vegas A bit of a makeover was done. Instead of simply renovating the facility that was originally built in the mid-1990s, it decided to completely rebuild it from scratch.
Dan Walsh, general manager of the hotel, said: “We decided to start over if we were going to spend this much on repairs and maintenance.” Travel + Leisure.
T+L received an exclusive sneak peek behind the scenes of the new design. The pool features lots of palm trees, vibrant pinks, and a variety of lounges, sunbeds and couches.

The new Go Pool has five swimming areas. The main pool is the largest, with a “wet deck” or shallow area that allows guests to sunbathe while their feet are still wet. Walsh said that the intention of the hotel was to maximize space.
“We expanded the footprint back as far as possible,” he said to T+L. A former holding area was converted into a new VIP area (one of three), featuring a 60-foot rectangular pool with a fountain. In order to enhance the intimate, oasis-like vibe, additional palm trees have been planted. They screen the VIP cabanas, adding a splash of tropical pizzazz.
The grotto, a shady and cave-like oasis located adjacent to the main swimming pool, is one of the most notable changes. The interior has been expanded, and an infinity circular pool, as well as a skylight have been added. It now feels like a Mexican cenote. A series of curtain-like waterfalls mark the entrance to keep everyone cool and hydrated on those scorching, 115-degree day.
A dramatic change is that the DJ booth which was previously near the entrance has been moved to the top of the grotto. You can now see the pink podium from almost anywhere.
That ought to satisfy Go Pool’s loyal followers—and there are thousands of them. DJ sets occur here seven days a week—in other words, whenever the pool is open—and play a key role in the pool’s success. You shouldn’t come here expecting to take a peaceful nap in the afternoon. The pool’s celebratory, upbeat spirit is so popular, that people often wait in line to enter each morning.
The pool is popular among tourists because it has no entrance fees, unlike some other pools on the Strip. Walsh stated that the pool is free to enter. It’s been open for the public since it opened. It’s well-known that this is a great pool for parties.
A circular swim-up pool bar offers shade and is another cool spot to chill out. This wraparound bar in the main pool is easily identifiable by its bright pink beach bonnet canopy with TVs and cooling misters. The idea of a mojito or frozen daiquiri to enjoy an afternoon is easy to imagine. Just make sure you don’t drink and dive!

Walsh assured that the hotel will not be “modernized” in the near future. Walsh said, “We want the history of Flamingo to remain intact.”
The Flamingo was opened in 1946 and is now the longest-running casino resort on the Strip. The flashing neon sign and the heritage of this casino-resort keeps guests coming back. Walsh said that some of the team members had been at the hotel for 40 years. The relationship they have with the customers is tangible.
This hotel has a unique feature that is also its most attractive. It is located next to the swimming pool. The 4-acre wildlife habitat that borders Go Pool is home to pelicans and ducks. Turtles are also present, as well as a flock Chilean flamingos.
A recent weekday saw tourists lining up in order to take selfies before the flamingo pool. The elegant, tall birds ruffled their feathers in the sun and posed for cameras.
“A lot of times I walk people back here, they say, ‘I had no idea this existed,'” explained Walsh.
Maybe that’s why Go Pool is still so popular even after all these many years. A tropical oasis in a desert will attract all kinds of creatures, including party animals.
