Expedia is gaining with Google Hotels “bruised” and under pressure. Tripadvisor, Trivago, and Super.com, a newcomer to the game, are also gaining.
Bernstein’s research note on the question of whether Google Hotels has “lost its relevance” contains some of these findings. The answer is “Not yet.”
Bernstein cited two factors that are placing pressure on Google Hotels. The European Union’s Digital Markets Act forced Google Hotels down the Google search results pages, and secondly, Google’s AI Overviews is slowly becoming the solution to hotel searches.
Bernstein analyzed 19,000 hotels throughout the U.S.
