Dusit Princess Melaka, Dusit International’s debut property in Malaysia, celebrated its official grand opening on 29 May 2025 — marking an exciting milestone in Melaka’s evolving hospitality landscape and introducing a new standard of upscale Thai-inspired hospitality to the state. The hotel unveiled one the largest event and meeting spaces in Melaka to further enhance the city’s appeal for MICE destinations.
Melaka continues to grow in terms of tourism and this grand opening is a significant moment. In 2024, the city welcomed over 15 million visitors — a 74% increase year-on-year — reinforcing its emergence as one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic travel destinations. Melaka State Government’s Visit Melaka campaign has been extended through 2026. It aligns with Visit Malaysia 2026 which aims to bring in 35.6 millions tourists.
The Dusit Princess Melaka is located strategically in the heart of UNESCO World Heritage City. This 296 room upscale hotel blends contemporary elegance with rich local history, and offers unobstructed views of both the Straits of Melaka and the city. With five-star facilities, contemporary comforts, and Dusit’s signature brand of Thai-inspired gracious hospitality, the property brings a fresh and distinctive offering to the local hotel landscape — catering to the needs of today’s business and leisure travellers while celebrating the cultural soul of Melaka.
Its facilities include the largest swimming pool in the State, a fully-equipped 24-hour gym and a range of distinctive dining establishments, including Zest Restaurants, Long Feng Chinese Restaurants and the Famosa Lounge.
The hotel’s event and meeting space, which spans 774 sqm, is equipped with a full LED screen and flexible room configurations. It can be tailored to suit the needs of conferences, weddings and private events.
The city offers a wide range of local experiences, which offer a journey into the sights, tastes, and cultures.
The hotel’s official grand opening ceremony was officiated by Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Ali Bin Mohd Rustam, Governor of Melaka, and attended by Mr Mohamad Bukhari bin Che Man, Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC), State of Melaka.
“Dusit Princess Melaka’s opening comes at a crucial time for the tourism sector”, said Mohamad Bukhari, Director of MOTAC State Melaka. As we prepare to host major global events, such as UN Tourism in 2025 and Visit Malaysia in 2026 the hotel will be a valuable addition to Melaka’s expanding hospitality scene and support the state’s continued development as an international tourism hub. The hotel reflects Melaka’s increasing appeal to international tourists and global brands, and is in line with our vision of responsible, inclusive and high-value growth. “With its Thai-inspired graciousness and extensive lifestyle and corporate facilities, the hotel is well placed to enrich visitor experiences as well as support Melaka’s emerging as a MICE tourism and regional leisure centre.”
Gilles Cretallaz is the Chief Operating Officer of Dusit International. He said, “This grand opening represents a significant milestone in Dusit’s history, as we introduce our gracious hospitality, inspired by Thailand, to Malaysia.
