    Criterion Capital buys Mansell Court in preparation for Zedwell expansion

    UK: Real estate asset manager Criterion Capital purchased Mansell Court Tower Bridge as part of the expansion plans for its affordable hotel chain Zedwell. 

    It will open as Zedwell Tower Bridge. This 200-room property is the second Zedwell to be built in the City of London. It is a follow-up to the acquisition of One Princes Street In November of last year, 

    Zedwell Tower Bridge brings the total number of rooms in the UK to over 9000. Openings are scheduled for London, York Manchester and Edinburgh.

    The Zedwell brand, developed in-house, is windowless by design. Its “cocoons”, or guest rooms, feature body-cushioning beds, ambient lighting and purified air. 

    Halima Aziza, the director of hotels at Criterion, said: “The acquisition of Mansell Court is an exciting addition to our expanding portfolio, and we are thrilled to bring our innovative Zedwell concept to a second site in the City of London. 

    This milestone strengthens our presence at one of the most popular destinations in the world, but it also reflects our commitment to providing accessible, environmentally-responsible, and thoughtfully-designed urban retreats. We are proud to align closely with the City of London’s ‘Destination City’ strategy and we look forward to contributing to its vision for a thriving and sustainable future,” she added.

    Highlights:

    • Criterion Capital has acquired Mansell Court to develop Zedwell Tower Bridge.

    • It will mark the second Zedwell hotel in the City of London, following One Princes Street.

    • The brand pipeline now includes more than 9,000 rooms across the UK.

    • Future openings include further hotels in London, York, Manchester and Edinburgh.
