    Conrad Punta De Mita

    • The resort features three pools and a beach, including a pool for adults with a swim-up-bar.
    • The temescal is one of the most popular spa experiences. A ceremony is held in a structure shaped like a dome.
    • There are many culinary options, including a beach barbeque where local fishermen grill the freshest catch they have caught that day on mesquite. Wood on the Beach
    • The suites are over 1,400 sq. ft. and have large patios, some with private plunge pools.

Immersing myself into the culture and customs of a new place is something I enjoy when I travel. It can be difficult to connect with a new destination when you want to have a relaxing resort vacation. Here is where Conrad Punta de Mita excels—it is one of the few resorts I’ve visited where cultural elements are woven throughout almost all aspects of the on-site guest experience.

The hotel is located in the city of Mexico’s Riviera NayaritHuicholes, direct descendants of Aztecs whose culture puts a strong emphasis on spirituality, nature, and the environment, are one such group. Conrad Punta De Mita offers its guests a luxurious and modern escape, while still allowing them to experience the Huichol traditions. There are hints everywhere of Indigenous culture, whether they’re obvious, such as the temascal ritual led by a local Indigenous Shaman, or subtle, such as the blue and yellow pattern of the Tukipa Ballroom, which was inspired by the sun-god Tau.

The Temazcal dome offers guests the opportunity to participate in the four-door ritual of purification.

The 55,000-square foot resort is its very own slice of paradise. You can find something to suit every vacationer’s interests, whether it’s lounging at one of many pools or exploring the area’s most famous landmarks. pueblos mágicos (magic towns).

Conrad Punta de Mita: Here’s my complete review.

    The Rooms

The Ocean View Signature King Suite bedroom.

The resort offers 324 rooms and apartments. For families or large groups who want to spread out, a two-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette and a personal concierge is available. Suites with ocean views and beachfronts have plenty of space and many come with private plunge pool.

I stayed at a Signature Beachfront Suite, which boasted over 1,400 square foot of luxurious space, including two bathrooms and a separate bedroom. There was also a patio, complete with a couch, and a pool.

Bedroom and living room decor features included light-hued wooden floors, wicker chairs, airy curtains, and art by local artists. The main bathroom featured large marble countertops with double sinks and a vanity. It also had a separate tub and shower, as well as access to an outside shower. Byredo Mojave Ghost is a staple of the resort.

The best part of the suite was the patio with its outdoor couch and loungers. The sound of the crashing waves made the perfect background noise while I read and relaxed. I even had a floating breakfast one morning in my plungepool at sunrise.

    Food and Drink

Arbol Terrace offers classic Mexican cuisine to be enjoyed al fresco.

Seven restaurants and bars are available at the resort.

Codex serves up elevated Mexican food infused with regional and traditional flavors. The staff performed an energy cleansing ritual with smoke as soon as I entered the restaurant. The food was delicious—the tuna tartare Molete with plantains and fried chili sauce stood out—and presented beautifully.

Mezquite serves elegant food on the resort’s beachfront. The food is cooked over an open flame and grilled to perfection. Dishes range from American classics and reimagined Mexican favorites. The smoked oysters are a must-try.

Breakfast is served at Arbol, where guests can choose from an à la carte menu (the chilaquiles are a must-order) and an excellent buffet with fresh pastries, fruits, and juices.

Paleta, the poolside bar, serves drinks, sandwiches and light snacks. Aura, the swim-up pool bar, is located in the adults-only hotel’s infinity pool. The two other bars at the hotel, Tuki and The Lounge At Codex, serve delicious cocktails. The Agave Studio offers guests the opportunity to book tastings with the expert agave, who will guide them through the different flavor profiles of tequilas, mezcals, sotols, and other agave based spirits.

However, it is important to note that the zarandeado Beach barbecues were the main attraction of the local cuisine. Local fishermen bring the freshest catch of the day from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to be grilled on the beach using mesquite. Ceviche is served first, but it’s the grilled fish that steals the show. Dessert is available to satisfy any cravings.

    Activities and Experiences

The swim-up bar is located in the main swimming pool.

There are many places to relax and beat heat. Rent private cabanas with butler service.

The hotel has a variety of activities on site, including guided bike tours, wellness classes, cooking and cocktail classes, and more. For those who want to explore beyond the resort, there are many activities available. These include sailing, fishing, horseback-riding, zip-lining and more.

Fitness enthusiasts can maintain their routines on vacation by using the gym’s cardio and strength-training equipment. Golfers will be able to step outside the resort onto an 18-hole course. Higuera Golf ClubConrad Punta de Mita can be reached in just a few minutes.

    The Spa

Conrad Spa offers a wide range of spa treatments.

    Jalyn Robinson/Travel + Leisure

The spa’s treatments are inspired by the ancient Huichol culture and incorporate nature with spirituality. The spa offers multiple pools, as well as outdoor treatment areas that look like cocoons made of natural materials.

One of the most popular experiences in the world is the temazcal ceremony. Small groups of people are led by a local Shaman into a dome-shaped structure where they detox in the heat. Other guests have said that it’s incredibly challenging, but also incredibly fulfilling (hydration is crucial).

Another traditional wellness experience is a 2-hour kupuri The ceremony focuses on energy cleansing using smoke and meditation.

    Offers for Families

Conrad Punta de Mita offers the perfect family getaway. Two of the three pools on site are suited for children. The splash pad and kiddie pools are only one foot deep, but the family pool has a water slide. The restaurants all offer kids menus with elevated choices like prime beef tenderloin.

Turi Kids Club at the resort is for children ages 4 to 12. They can play with toys and take part in free activities. Also available are babysitting and childcare services.

    Accessibility and sustainability

The resort has two different types of ADA compliant rooms. One is a king-sized bedroom, and the other is a bedroom with two queens. Both rooms have wider doorways and lowered fixtures. They also feature bathroom bars.

All areas are accessible with wheelchair-friendly paths. On-site, there are also elevators and accessible parking.

    Location

Conrad Punta de Mita lies about 45 minutes drive from Puerto Vallarta International Airport. Guests can book a shuttle through the resort. Taxis are available at the airport. Be sure to negotiate a price beforehand.

During my visit, I visited the town of SayulitaThe resort is located only 20 minutes away from. The area is known for its amazing surfing and touristy nature. This makes it the ideal place to enjoy the beach, local food, and shopping.

Conrad Punta de Mita is also close to San Francisco, a town known for its vibrant art scene. The Marieta Islands are a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, a national park where visitors can go whale-watching, scuba diving or explore secluded beach.
