SACRAMENTO, Calif. California Hotel and Lodging Association issued this statement on behalf of California’s over 6,000 hotels and the 235,000 hotel workers. Newsom announced that, so far in 2025, the CHP-led Organized Retail Crime Task Force has made 706 arrested and recovered almost 150,000 stolen items valued at approximately $8 million.

Gov. Newsom’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force makes significant strides in making California safer for millions of visitors annually, the retail and hotel community, and Californians. Collaboration between local and state law enforcement is having a significant impact, improving the image of tourist destinations, such as San Francisco and Los Angeles. Lynn S. Mohrfeld President and CEO of CHLA
