Marriott Marquis Houston is the premier downtown hotel in Houston and has announced Chef Edgar Maldonado’s appointment as its new executive chef. In his new role, Chef Maldanado is responsible for the extensive culinary operations at the Marriott Marquis Houston. This includes the day-today management of five restaurants on site and 52 banquet halls, as well as ensuring that guests receive exceptional dining experiences throughout the 1,000 room property.
Chef Maldonado has over 27-years of culinary experience. Most recently, he served as Executive Chef in several Marriott properties around the country. His passion for cooking began when he was a child, while cooking with his Venezuelan mother. After moving to the U.S., he attended the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, in Orlando. He began his culinary career at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort & Spa, in Ponte Vedra.

Chef Maldonado will be a leader in the Marriott Marquis Houston, and his leadership will go beyond the kitchen. He plans to bring interactive culinary experiences to guests, such as cooking classes and events. Chef Maldonado will also work closely together with the Marriott Marquis Houston’s award winning meetings and events team, to ensure that each event is enhanced by high-quality, customized and memorable culinary selections.
