Hospitality Financial The following are some examples of how to get started: Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is pleased to announce two champions of hospitality technology, Bruce Bensetler and Luis SegredoAs the 2025 HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame Both inductees were recognized for their contributions to the development of technology solutions that improved operations and strategies within hospitality. Bensetler, founder and CEO, Data Plus, Inc., was built to help hotels unify accounting, payment, and procurement data. Segredo, a serial entrepreneur, co-founded Hapi in 2016 to connect hoteliers with solution providers. The inductees for 2025 will be recognized at the upcoming Hotel Industry Technology Exhibition and Conference (HITEC®) in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 17, 2025.
The International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame represents HFTP’s highest recognition for technology. This award has been given to 57 people since 1989 as a recognition of their contribution to the hospitality industry.
Bensetler stated that “each year as I entered HITEC, I studied the list of inductees and their contributions to the HFTP Hall of Fame.” “I never imagined that my work would be deemed significant as I have always enjoyed working with such talented and clever hospitality professionals.”
Bruce is known as a developer with entrepreneurship and creativity who loves to understand the operational and accounting needs of the hotel industry. In 1973, he founded Data Plus, Inc., which in 1986 became one of the first ERP systems for the hospitality sector. Platform included general ledgers, accounts payable and receivables as well inventory, purchase, bank reconciliation, capital budgeting, purchasing and purchasing. In the past 50 years, Data Plus has created eight generations of ERP software. Data Plus currently services management companies and independent hoteliers in 15 different countries.
Segredo stated, “It is an honor to be inducted into HFTP Hall of Fame.” “Having watched over the years people I have admired being inducted, I am humbled to see my peers recognize my efforts. “I share this distinction with my team members, customers and partners who made it possible.”
Segredo has been a pioneer in the hotel industry with his innovative ideas. His vision of transforming hotel data over the years has shaped this industry. He has been the CEO of Hapi (Data Travel, LLC) for eight years. The company has over 14K properties. He has 32 years experience in hospitality and is a specialist in technology at the corporate level as well as on properties.
Before founding Hapi, Segredo co-founded MTech in 1993, the developers of HotSOS and REX (now HotSOS Housekeeping) which are used globally by thousands of properties, management companies, and brands to help automate operations, maintenance, and housekeeping activities. Segredo held various leadership roles with Amadeus Hospitality, Newmarket International and MTech after the sale of MTech to Newmarket International. Segredo serves as the chairperson of the AHLA Global Technology 100.
