Reservations are now open for the highly anticipated debut of the restored Westman boutique Hotel in Bend, Oregon. The Westman, located at 777 Northwest Wall Street, in the heart downtown, breathes new energy into the former United States Post Office. It features 23 guest rooms that are uniquely designed and community-driven communal spaces.
The hotel is named after Minnie, an Oregonian mail carrier who was a pioneer west of the Mississippi River. It pays tribute to the long-lasting legacy of independence and grit that she left behind. Hailed as a New York Times Article As someone who “carries the mail all night long and has no fear,” Westman’s pioneering nature comes to life in the hotel’s design and identity.
Experts from Oregon-based Embarcadero Hospitality Group, Emerick Architects, R&H Construction, LRS and other local artists and makers came together for the adaptive reuse project that is a love letter to Bend and the Pacific Northwest. The space blends historical preservation with modern comforts. The development team prioritized sustainable by retaining as many of the original structures as possible. This included over 175,000 bricks and 1,900 square foot of terrazzo floor, 1,000 tons concrete, and 44 original window to reduce the building’s ecological footprint.
The Westman is a blend of the old and the new. The space features:
- This cozy lounge and lobby bar features a fireplace in the style of Art Deco brass that welcomes locals and travelers to enjoy food, drinks, and games. For a private experience, guests can enjoy curated local offerings in their mini-bars.
- The oversized heated outdoor soaking pool is perfect for moments of serenity and relaxation. It’s located in a lush courtyard, complete with fire pits for communal use and comfortable seating.
- 23 distinct hotel rooms that invoke feelings of warmth and nostalgia. Each space is designed to highlight the unique architectural features of the building. Some rooms feature 16-foot ceilings and 10-foot by 5-foot windows. Others have 700-square foot mezzanine suits with private patios.
