B&B HOTELS is set to complete its first hotel using modular timber construction in Neustadt in Holstein by autumn 2025. The project combines the use of modern modular construction techniques with the restoration and listing of an historic building. This reflects a strategic focus for faster, more cost-effective, and environmentally friendly hotel development.

Combine modular construction with heritage preservation

The new 100 room hotel will be situated near Neustadt station. It is a hybrid construction that combines modern, new structures with a renovated, protected agricultural storage building. The ground floor, stairwell core and upper floors will be constructed using solid construction techniques.

These modules are produced in controlled factory conditions and include insulation, windows and wall finishes as well as technical installation. They can be transported to the construction site for rapid assembly.

Timber One and sustainable production: a collaboration

Timber One is the general contractor for this hotel project. Timber One shareholder hobb Holzveredlung GmbH manufactures the timber modules using wood from sustainable German forestry.

This production process meets B&B HOTELS’ rigorous quality and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

Hotel Development: A Sustainable and Efficient Approach

B&B HOTELS’ Neustadt project is positioned as a model for sustainable hotel construction, leveraging modular timber technology to shorten construction periods, reduce site disturbances, and lower emissions.

The project aligns to industry trends that seek environmentally responsible solutions along with operational efficiency. This includes heritage preservation, modern design and construction techniques.
