Originally built in the 1960s and lovingly re-envisioned for today’s traveler by CPD Studio, Bay Shores invites guests into a warm, welcoming space where mid-century charm meets contemporary California style. The hotel design draws inspiration from vintage surf hotels and retro coastal getaways. It combines bold colors, natural material and modern craftsmanship in a way that is both timeless and uplifting.
Bay Shores offers 25 uniquely designed rooms and Suites. Each room is decorated with pastel shades, custom-built furniture and checkerboard flooring. In the guestrooms, rotating wallpapers, vintage touches and curated art from California-based California photographer Mariah Brink capture the laid-back SoCal culture. The rooms are adorned with pink doors, seafoam-colored walls, and custom lighting, such as handcrafted sconces made by Australian ceramicist Robert Gordon.

The playful, yet refined aesthetic of Bay Shores is evident in the public areas, with its green and white marble floors, arched architectural features, and unique lobby pieces made from natural stone or custom millwork. The lobby is filled with items that were either designed by the hotel or acquired from local vintage collections. This emphasizes craftsmanship and intent at every turn. Urban Electric lighting fixtures give the lobby a retro movie-like glow. Sustainability touches like refillable water carsafes, compostable to-go cups, and minimal housekeeping reflect a commitment for modern, conscious hospitality.
The Penny, and The Pearl are two rooftop spaces that elevate the unique atmosphere. These open-air spaces offer stunning views of the bay and ocean, making them the ideal backdrop for private celebrations or events. The Penny & The Pearl, open to locals and guests, perfectly complements the warm and inviting charm of the hotel. They feature cozy fireplaces and banquette seating as well as spaces for movie nights and sunset cocktails.
Meanwhile, Pure & Simple Coastal Café in the lobby serves light, seasonal fare and expertly crafted espresso drinks, creating a seamless rhythm from morning coffee to afternoon snacks.
