Trip.com Group’s latest AI push is a gamble on getting more done with less. The company is working to make it easier for travelers to plan their trip. Answer three simple questions — destination, length, travel style — or drop in a single image. The system provides a fully bookable, complete itinerary.
The company connects those quick inputs, including verified inventory, real-time prices and availability and millions of signals, to actual booking data. The suggestions will be more actionable and less aspirational.
The company returns control to the users. The itinerary is just a start. The map is interactive, so travelers can change their routes, add or remove attractions, and even call a human agent for help with the details. This combination of automated speed and human finish is what the company is looking for to give it an edge.
James Liang said in its latest earnings report that the Trip Planner has been upgraded to a new version.
