    Announcement of our national disaster preparedness program for Japan

    Airbnb has developed a global disaster preparedness program to help provide faster and more coordinated assistance when disaster strikes. Airbnb.org has also built on its previous disaster response in Japan. This included support for Ishikawa Prefecture, local nonprofit RCF and housing evacuees following the tsunami.     Airbnb.org It is a non-profit organization that facilitates temporary accommodations for people who are in crisis situations around the globe. Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization that operates independently, leveraging Airbnb, Inc. technology, services, other resources, at no cost, to fulfill Airbnb.org’s charitable mission. Airbnb.org was inspired by a host named Shell, who in 2012 opened her home to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. The Airbnb program was born from this movement, which allowed hosts to offer accommodation for those in need. Since then, this program has evolved and now focuses on emergency response, helping to provide accommodations to evacuees and relief workers as well as refugees, asylum seekers and frontline workers who are fighting COVID-19.
