Kimpton Gray Hotel is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Leahy as Director of Sales and Marketing, bringing over a decade of hospitality experience and a people-first leadership style to the landmark Loop property.
Leahy was born and raised in Chicago. She has worked in the local market her entire professional career. She started her career in hospitality as a cater coordinator. She learned the ropes and worked her way through the ranks. She has a deep connection with the city, and her knowledge of its hospitality industry is what shaped her leadership style.
Leahy has joined The Gray Hotel from Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago. She spent the past several years managing sales initiatives within one of the most competitive micro markets in the city. She led the team to a successful brand repositioning and transition of the hotel from a franchise concept to an independent one, all while increasing its market appeal and guest appeal. This experience further sharpened her skills in strategic development, brand storytelling, and team cohesion—expertise she now brings to her new role at Kimpton Gray Hotel.
Leahy’s new position will include overseeing all marketing and sales efforts for the hotel. This includes brand partnerships, corporate and group sales strategies, and long-term positioning. She focuses on the growth and development of her team, noting that long-term success is dependent upon investing in people.
Leahy’s passion is the purpose of each guest’s visit. She believes that the goal is the same, whether it’s for a business trip or a getaway with family, or even a couple celebrating an important occasion. It’s to anticipate guests’ needs, to provide a warm welcome, and to tailor each experience according to the person, making it memorable.
Leahy enjoys exploring Chicago when she is not busy with her three children. She loves to grab coffee at her local favorite, Dollop while enjoying the sights in her neighborhood. She has a great appreciation for hotel lobbys. The Gray’s Living Room lobby is her favorite. The cozy and inviting atmosphere is perfect for people watching and admiring the aesthetic.
