Airbnb guests who stay in a house managed by a manager will not be charged the 15% service charge, as per a new regulation that comes into effect late October.
Airbnb will charge property managers 14-16% more than the 3% they paid previously.
Changes to the property management system are mandatory and take effect on October 27.
Several hosts worry about losing out. Airbnb claims that the new structure will add transparency and, more importantly, guests and hosts won’t see any changes to their total costs and payments. Airbnb explains both models here.
