Airbnb has introduced a new feature that allows guests to book domestic stays without having any upfront payment. Airbnb calls this feature Reserve Now, and Pay Later.
Hosts can set their own cancellation policy. When a host’s policy is flexible — meaning guests can cancel up to 24 hours before the stay begins — their payments aren’t due until “shortly before” the free-cancellation period ends, Airbnb announced Thursday.
The U.S. guest who reserves an apartment or house with a moderate cancelation policy that allows for a refund of the full amount up to five days prior to arrival, will only need pay a few days earlier.
Airbnb gave an example where payment was due 9 days prior to the stay.
Booking an Airbnb through a third party can be a good option for guests.
