    Wyndham and Soliteight Unveil Plan to Bring Super 8 brand to Spain and Portugal by Opening 40 New Hotel in the Next 10 Years

    LONDON – Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchising company with 25 global brands and approximately 9,300 hotels, has signed an exclusive development agreement with Soliteight Hotel Projects SA to introduce its Super 8® by Wyndham brand to the Iberian market in Spain and Portugal. Soliteight, an established Wyndham Franchisee and leading hotel development company, will build and open 40 Super 8 properties over the next decade.

    Super 8, a leading global economy brand that is known for its excellent value and hospitality, will be catering to the growing number of budget-conscious tourists in Spain and Portugal. The initiative is being launched as both countries have experienced record-breaking growth in tourism, and the demand for quality economy accommodation has been increasing. Wyndham has 14 Super 8 hotels in EMEA. These include locations in Germany (the UK), Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Arabia.

    The first hotel is scheduled to open in Leiria (Portugal) in Q4 of 2027. Other locations will be developed at prime locations in Tier 1 cities and Tier 2 cities. These include airports, popular retail areas and transportation routes. Most of the hotels are new constructions using smart modular designed to be efficient and sustainable, while staying true to Super 8’s commitment to quality.

    Addressing market needs

    Super 8 by Wyndham is launching in Spain and Portugal due to booming tourism and changing travel trends. There is also a growing need for quality and affordable accommodations. Spain is expected to welcome a new record of 94 million foreign visitors in 2024. Portugal will also see significant tourism growth. Spain’s economic performance is strong, with a 3.2% GDP increase In the same year, domestic and business travel is booming, especially in emerging markets and secondary cities. Super 8 by Wyndham, which offers affordable, reliable and high-quality lodging, is the perfect solution for travellers looking for alternatives to basic budget accommodations and expensive mid-range hotel chains.

    Spain and Portugal still trail other European countries in terms of branded economy hotel penetration.
