    Alaska Airlines Will Increase Its Onboard Food in All Cabins

    • Alaska Airlines updated their First Class and Main Cabin Menus.
    • Pre-orders for a new healthy grain bowl are available on most flights.
    • First class passengers will enjoy new menu items prepared by a Michelin-award winning chef.

    Seattle-based airline announced an upgrade to its dining menus for both First Class and Main Cabin. The Michelin and James Beard Award-winning Chef-designed Meals prioritize health and wellness at 30,000ft, which can be challenging for airlines due catering restrictions and rapid-turn aircraft.

    The new First Class menu, designed by San Francisco chef Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu’s uses local ingredients, including meats and veggies from regional ranches.

    Mister Jiu’s new menu featuring Tea-Smoked Soy chicken and other Chinese dishes is now available to passengers in First Class. 

    “I learned to rely on sauces that are delicious on their own and to create dishes that evoke a sense of place—whether that’s reminding guests of home or getting them excited to visit San Francisco’s Chinatown where my restaurant is located,” Jew said in a release about the new menu Shared with Travel + Leisure. 

    The airline is introducing a new plant-based, gluten-free meal for passengers in Main Cabin. This dish comes from Evergreens of Seattle. The new addition to the menu will be a healthy grain bowl with avocados, tofu and quinoa.

    The grain bowl, as well as other options, will be available at a great price. pre-order Alaska Airlines flights of more than 1,100 miles are eligible for the free upgrade. Alaska Airlines offers travelers the option to order their meals in advance through its app. MVP Gold loyalty members who have accumulated 100k miles can also pre-order a meal.
