    American Airlines Will Add a New In-Flight Perk for Free in 2026

    • American Airlines has added free Wi-Fi in 90 percent of their fleet.
    • To receive the free connectivity, passengers must be members in good standing of the AAdvantage program.
    • The airline plans to launch this new service in early 2019.

    If you’re flying next year, get ready to be connected in the skies. American Airlines.

    American just announced it will offer complimentary Wi-Fi to AAdvantage loyalty program members beginning in January 2026, sponsored by AT&T. Around 90 percent of the fleet will be compatible, and nearly 500 regional aircraft are expected to be equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi before the end of 2025.

    Heather Garboden is the chief customer officer at American Airlines. She said that customers are very interested in staying connected on board, whether it’s to communicate with friends or colleagues, do work, check in on social networks, or stream their favorite subscription services. Travel + Leisure. “We’ve been working diligently to outfit our aircraft with best-in-class high-speed Wi-Fi and together with AT&T are proud to offer those services at no cost to our most loyal customers.”

    Offer will be available for aircraft equipped with Viasat or Intelsat. American Airlines offers free Wi-Fi for a limited time on selected flights in order to test out the service prior to launching it fully at the start of 2026.

    “We are proud to partner with American Airlines to connect people to what matters most to them—even in the sky,” Jenifer Robertson, EVP & GM mass markets at AT&T, said in a statement shared with T+L.

    There are other domestic airlines who offer free Wi-Fi inflight. DeltaIt is available for Delta SkyMiles, Hawaiian Airlines and JetBlue members on the majority of flights.
