    Santa Barbara has a core of a beach. beach townStart with the ocean. East Beach has the most sand, and is also the most popular. Butterfly Beach, located next to Montecito’s Coral Casino, provides a more quiet stretch. Hendry’s Beach has a great sunset view and is a favorite among dog lovers. Mesa Lane offers a secluded and local experience. You can rent a boat and enjoy the view of the city.

    For first-timers, head to the Santa Barbara County Courthouse to climb the tiles stairs and enjoy a panoramic view of the city. You can also try other nearby hikes, such as Hot Springs. (Bring a swimming suit) or Inspiration Point. Keep it simple with a slow bike ride along the coast. Take a stroll along Stearns Wharf.

    Santa Barbara’s culinary scene has been experiencing a renaissance in recent years, as several new establishments have opened. Make time for Barbareño along with newer standouts like Little Mountain, Montes, Dom’s Taverna, and Manifattura. For something more casual, Shoreline Café offers tables in the sand while Dune Coffee has some of the best brew in town. McConnell’s Ice Cream is a must-stop (their Upper State Street location has been a favorite of celebrities for years).

    You can spend an evening in the Funk Zone with its wine, beer, galleries, and live music, or you can wander State Street to find a more lively mix of shops and restaurants. If you’ve got time, head inland to Santa Ynez Valley, where you can experience Central Coast winecountry, a relaxed and intimate alternative to Napa Valley or Sonoma.
