    This Resort Was Just Named the Best Ski Destination in the World—for the 10th Time in 13 Years

    Val Thorens, the first place to be named in the World Ski Awards when it was launched in 2013, is now the second-placed resort in the awards. French Alps The best ski resort on the planet. Now the mountain is back at the top.

    Val Thornes, located in the Tarentaise valley of the French Alps at a height of more than 7,500 ft above sea level, is known for high-altitude skiing. The resort also forms part of the world-famous Les 3 Vallées (or the three valleys), which is made up of seven different ski areas, including Courchevel, Méribel, Brides-les-Bains, and more. Together, the three valleys create the largest interconnected ski area in world with over 400 miles of runs.

    Val Thornes was named the World Ski Awards’ best resort thanks to its accommodation options, resort facilities and “setting the standard for lift infrastructure”.

    In a press release, Sion Rapson said that the winners of this year’s World Ski Awards “reflect the dynamic nature our industry and showcase an ideal blend luxury, innovation, and sustainability.” Travel + LeisureThe awards also recognize “the resorts and chalets that have pushed the ski industry to new heights around the world, as well as the travel agents, tour operators, and hotels.”

    Rapson stated that the awards had received a record-breaking number of votes. He called it “encouraging at the beginning of the new season.”

    In order to determine the ranking, both ski industry professionals as well as actual skiers chose their favorite resorts and ski hotels. The winners come from all over the world including Europe, Asia and the Americas.

    The best ski resort in the world is located in the United States. The exclusive Deer Valley The resort offers luxury accommodations with fireplaces that crackle, a spa that includes heated outdoor pools and hot tubs for sore muscles and the opportunity to dine outside in globes while enjoying the view of the mountains.

    Val Thornes’ five-star Hôtel Le Pashmina was also recognized as the world’s best ski boutique hotel for 2025. The luxurious stay has just 45 rooms, suites and apartments. Each room and apartment offers access to the wellness features of the hotel including a heated indoor swimming pool and both an indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi.

    The Nikko Style Niseko HANAZONO in Japan was named the World’s Best New Ski Hotel. In the larger Niseko United ski resort, the property boasts a total of 234 rooms. This includes 13 suites. There is also a traditional Onsen where you can relax after tackling the slopes.
