    Chic hotels are more than just luxury places to stay hotels Shops are reinventing themselves to become some of most unique places. Their highly curated boutiques reflect each hotel’s unique identity and taste, spotlighting works by local designers and one-of-a-kind pieces for travelers who’ve seen—and bought—it all. These stores, whether they are located in upscale beach resorts or hip urban retreats, are more than just window dressing. These stores are stylish in their own rights.

    Tokyo: Trunk (Hotel) Cat Street

    The TRUNK


    This hidden hideaway in Tokyo’s Shibuya neighbourhood blurs highbrow design with youth culture. This extends to the entire building. Trunk (Store), a luxe konbini—a Japanese convenience store—stocked with eco-friendly clothing, food, and beauty products. The collaborations include striped pajamas from the workwear label Steteco. “Discovering a new local brand is part of the fun,” says Kasumi Naito, the hotel’s merchandiser. 

    Perfect Gift A citrus-lemongrass diffuser. Naito says that “every Trunk property is unique in its scent.”

    Italy: Le Sirenuse

    This hotel is situated on a steep cliff that overlooks the ocean. Amalfi Coast, Le Sirenuse embodies Italian glamour. Emporio Sirenuse offers a variety of merchandise, such as beach bags, towels, and hats, that guests can bring home. The boutique releases resort-wear collections four times a season, sold by Net-a Porter as well as other retailers. “The shop began as a desire to translate the hotel’s understated elegance into clothing, and it evolved into a global brand,” says Francesco Sersale, the head of marketing and grandson of the hotel’s founder. 

    Limited Edition: Ceramics by Lucio Liguori. Sersale states that “every time his products are brought in, they’re gone almost instantly.” Camille skirts are another favorite. “They are available in many styles and they always sell out.”

Yann Dobry is the creative director of the store. “Everything has the colors from the medina,” he says. Most items are unique to the store, including embroidered clothing made in collaboration with Moroccan designers and tangerine-colored ceramics by Poterie Serghini.

    Best Seller: Hassan Hajjaj creates graphic T-shirts with vibrant colors. He is a Moroccan artist living in London. 

    The Peninsula Beverly Hills, Los Angeles

    The story began in an apartment. The Peninsula Beverly Hills In 2022. Cio Soler is a fashion expert who opened Sita 1911, a pop-up boutique that showcases lesser-known designers. “For women who don’t wanna look like everyone else,” says Cio. The Peninsula, after noticing that customers kept coming back with Sita 1911 bags, offered to make the store permanent. Soler says, “We pamper our clients with a selection of unique pieces.” Recently, a second store opened in the Beverly Hills Hotel.

    Exclusive: Tim Ryan metallic knit jackets with fringes. Soler: “We are his sole retail partner.” He makes each cardigan and jacket from scratch, with up to 5,000 silk ribbons. 

    São Paulo: Rosewood São Paulo

    The hotel The building is a landmark attached to a tower full of greenery. Its Art Library is both a museum-quality gallery, with 50 site-specific works by Brazilian artists, and a boutique with rare handcrafted objects. Vinicius Romacini, the art concierge at the hotel, has a few favorites, including wooden stools in the form of jaguars and tapirs. 

    Buy local: An ashtray by Patrícia Bianco. Romancini says that the frog has a deep symbolism for many Brazilian Indigenous Communities.
