The Headless Horseman appears on Halloween night and many paranormal events occur. This is why the village really comes alive at Halloween, with its parades, witchy décor, and many other themed activities.

You can get to Sleepy Hollow easily from New York City. You can take the Metro-North Railroad Hudson Line directly from Grand Central Station. It takes only 35 minutes to get the Express Train to Tarrytown Station. You can also take a local train from the village to Philipse Manor. You can either walk into town or take an Uber to get there. The drive takes about one hour and fifteen minutes for those who are driving (though this can increase during rush hour). The closest airport, Westchester County Airport in White Plains (about a 30 minute drive), is for those coming from further afield.
What to Eat
Sleepy Hollow is a village in the Hudson Valley that boasts some of New York State’s best-known farms. It’s therefore no surprise to find that Sleepy Hollow’s restaurants are amongst New York State’s finest.
Tarrytown’s Halloween is the place to go if you want to celebrate Halloween in full (without sacrificing flavor). Goosefeather, where modern Chinese food served up by a James Beard–nominated chef meets a haunted past. The restaurant can be found in The King Mansion on the Tarrytown House EstateSybil Harris is said to have died in the room 293 above the dining area. I didn’t personally experience any ghostly apparitions on my last visit to the hotel, but staff and previous guests have.
