Hotel Sp34 by Brochner Hotels is housed within a traditional Latin Quarter building on Sankt Peders Stræde. This is a sleek, minimalist four-star hotel. The lobby is a warm, cozy space that’s perfect for laptop creators (there’s an area set up with floor-to ceiling string to create a separate work area) and readers. From here, the next-door restaurant Väkst can be viewed, with its vast greenhouse which floods the open plan space with light and greenery. Hotel Sp34’s beds are famous for their leather and light-up wooden headboards. When seated, they cocoon either side of the bed. The pitted glass bowls that house the light fixtures emit a warm white glow. The walls are light gray and the floors dark.
There’s an ‘urban terrace’ at the rear, taking the place of balconies, with ample, red-framed seating and lounging areas—look out for the Wine Hour and Nightcap Hour sessions where a late afternoon or late evening drink is free for guests.
The hotel bills itself as an art and design lover’s destination, and it has a constantly changing exhibition of sculptures and bicycles. ‘Nordic touch’ is the name of the game here, immersing you into the old-charm cobbled Copenhagen streets, with a firm nod to modern design, naturally.
