LA: What’s the plan for your first visit?

KM: I go to the park early in the day, as soon as they open. I avoid going on weekends because it is too crowded and chaotic. On weekends, there are usually a quarter of a million people in one spot. It can get very, very busy. There are also my favorite sections which I go to regularly. Everyone has a different favorite section. Some people just want to look at the machines on Machinery Hill. I don’t really want to go to Machinery Hill. I’m not really interested in that. But I want to see the displays of home improvement products. I want the person to show me how absorbent Shamwow really is. “Madam would you like me to show you how absorbent it is?”

“Yes, please.” “I would like to see it.”

“I will spill a coffee cup right here on this carpet, and then I will show you how quickly this rug can pick up the coffee.”

I am always saying, “I want to see the art of seeds.” I already know what I’m looking for. It’s best to have a plan before you go. You can arrange a rendezvous with your friends if they want to view the baby animals and you want them to see home economics. Prioritize what you would like to see, because you may get tired faster than expected. Then wrap up the day and leave while you are still happy. Do not stay in the sun or be overly tired.

LA: What other state fairs would you like to visit or are you obsessed with?

KM: People always tell me to visit the Texas State Fair. Texas The Minnesota State Fair is bigger than their fair, they say.

    LA: Very Texas

KM: They say they get… It’s true that their state fair has a higher number of attendees than Minnesota’s, but it’s not fair since their fair is twice as long. However, I must admit that I enjoy visiting small county fairs.

LA: Kristen, you’ve talked about your recent trips, but do you have any places in mind that have a lot of stories to tell and a rich history?

KM: Yes. One trip I would love to take is the Prince Edward Island Track. The Prince Edward Island Track is one trip I dream of taking. Prince Edward Island A walking track goes around its entire perimeter. There are several different walking sections. There are sections that take you inland and others that only allow you to see the lighthouses. There is a section of the trail that is only for Anne of Green Gables Lucy Maud Montgomery House, where Lucy Maud Montgomery lived. You can go to different sites where Anne of Green Gables did this and that in the books. The walk can last up to seven full days if you do shorter sections. If you are a longer walker like myself, then you can complete the walk in three to four nights and walk from village to village every night. Stay in an inn. Have a picnic. Eat some sandwiches. Drink cordial.

LA: Oh, this sounds like magic.

What is the best website for people to visit to hear you stories, to listen to your podcasts, or to just follow you?

KM: Well, you can go to my website, kristenmeinzer.com, that’s K-R-I-S-T-E-N-M-E-I-N-Z-E-R.com. Kristenmeinzer.comFollow me on Instagram. My handle is @k10meinzer. So, those are two of the best locations.

    LA: Oh, it was fun.

KM: It was so much fun. You make it look so simple. You guys are amazing.

LA: God, you are so easy to please.

    KM: What a pleasure!

LA: Thanks for listening Women Travellers. I’m Lale and you can find my Instagram account. @lalehannah. Our engineer is Pran Bandi.
