You never know what treasures you may find in a state park where you can dig for diamonds.
Micherre was one of them. She traveled to Arkansas from New York for a month. Crater of Diamonds State ParkThe only place in the U.S. where visitors can search for diamonds is. Fox had come to search for a diamond to use in her engagement ring. Arkansas On July 8, It wasn’t until the last day of her search that she found success.
On July 29, while walking along the West Drain in the park, she noticed something glistening at her feet. She realized that the shiny object was actually a stone. She knew it was a diamond. She took the stone to the Diamond Discovery Center, where it was confirmed as a white diamond weighing 2.3 carats.
Fox: “I had never held a diamond before, so I wasn’t sure. But it was the diamond-like diamond I’d ever seen.” told Arkansas State Parks. “I got down on my knees, cried and then began to laugh.”

Crater of Diamonds State Park is home to over 75,000 different diamonds. The three most common colors of diamonds found in the Arkansas park include white, yellow, and brown.
It was also in this park that the largest diamond ever found in the United States was discovered. The diamond was discovered in 1924, during a mining project on land that would later become Crater Of Diamonds State park. The diamond weighed 40.23carats and was white, with a slight pink cast. After it was cut to 12.42carats in an emerald form, the weight was reduced. The Smithsonian gem collection is located at the National Museum of Natural History.
Visitors who find diamonds in the Crater of Diamonds State Park often name them. Fox named hers after her last names and those of her partner, and she will use it to make her engagement ring.
By August 2025 there were 366 diamonds registered and found at the park. 11 of these diamonds weighed over one carat. Fox’s diamond is the largest found so far in this year.
