How voting works
Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe—to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. The 2025 survey was completed by nearly 180,000 T+L subscribers. Over 657,000 votes were cast for over 8,700 different properties (hotels cities cruise lines etc.).).

What Readers Really Loved
The list of T+L’s reader favorites for this year is dominated once again by two well-known resort areas on Mexico’s sunny coasts. In fact, only one property—No. 12 Banyan Tree Puebla—sits inland.
Riviera Maya, just south of Cancún on the Yucatán Peninsula, came through with nine spots, including two hotels set amid the verdant mangroves and emerald canals of the Mayakoba complex. Fairmont Mayakoba was ranked number one for a variety of reasons, including its striking setting. 17 spot. The 401-key hotel is described as a “magical place” by one reader. “The jungle is lush and beautiful, with the best suites nestled amongst the lush greenery of the plants. The ocean, lagoons, canals or streams are all full of water. The pools are large with lots of loungers and cabanas. Over on the west coast, the biggest cluster of resorts can be found in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo in Baja California Sur. In this region, Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort (No. Sixth place is a perfect example of the hospitality and service that makes WBA hotels so special. The 84 suites/villas at Las Ventanas offer such a high level of service that one WBA vote said, “I can’t think of staying anywhere else.” A T+L readers who calls this hotel a must, had high praises for their experience. “The team are beyond attentive and inviting.” The rooms are beautiful, and the food was amazing.
Another trend to note? All-inclusive resorts continue to be popular. appeal to a growing number of travelers for the myriad ways they streamline costs and planning. This back-to-back No. The smallest all-inclusive resort to be included in T+L’s top Mexico resorts for this year is No. Each butler-attended accommodation measures over 1,000 square feet, and faces either the ocean or the hotel gardens. Readers were also impressed by the sense of luxury and refinement that was exhibited in activities like a catamaran sailing or a private beach dinner. The Muluk Spa offers couples a variety of wellness experiences, including a rejuvenating hydrotherapy circuit.
