Antigua’s most popular resort Carlisle Bay has begun a multi-million dollar renovation project. All phases are expected to be complete by November 2027. Carlisle Bay, a five-star resort that is a proud member of Leading Hotels of the World will reveal the first phase of the transformation in this year. The full evolution—encompassing guest suites, public areas, dining venues, and enhancements to its signature spa—will unfold over the next three years, aligned with the resort’s annual seasonal closure periods.
Carlisle Bay’s strategic location in Antigua is a destination that is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and pristine beaches. The resort is taking advantage of this island’s tourism economy. With over 60% of Antigua’s GDP attributed to tourism, the resort’s upgraded facilities aim to attract a greater share of international travelers—particularly from key markets in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. It is anticipated that the renovations will increase Carlisle Bay’s revenue by more than 20%, while also boosting occupancy levels—generating greater support for local businesses and creating additional job opportunities within the community.
The multi-million-dollar renovation begins with the first phase. The resort has renovated 55% of its 87 suites, including the Ocean, Bay, and Garden Suites.—all located directly on the bay. These suites are undergoing renovations as part of the resort’s annual closure. They will then be ready to receive guests in October 2025 when it reopens. Garden, Ocean, Bay Suites, designed to capture the golden warmth and timeless elegance of the Caribbean, will be a new chapter in the resort.
Miminat Shodeinde, of Miminat Designs in London, is the designer who will be leading the design vision. Her approach blends modern opulence and Antiguan heritage. Suites will feature unique textures and materials that are inspired by Antigua’s natural surroundings, while also honoring the resorts authentic spirit. The use of color palettes and contrasting shades, as well as the thoughtful use of light will allow guests to immerse themselves fully in Carlisle Bay’s laid-back luxury.
The Beach Terrace Suites, Beach Balcony Suites and Carlisle Suites will be refurbished in the next phase, which is scheduled to occur during the closure period of 2026. Carlisle Bay’s various dining venues and CARA Organic Spa, which are scheduled to be completed in the next two-years, will also undergo a reimagining.
