UNESCO has recently added several new sites to its list of global heritage sites, and upgraded the status of two others. The group broke the news through a series Facebook posts.
The latest additions to the popular tourist list including unique sites that may be unfamiliar to even the most frequent of travelers, like Møns Klint in Denmark. It is a site with white chalk cliffs jutting into the Baltic Sea that date back to 70 million years. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the site from the sea or land, and search for fossils in the clear water.

Sierra Leone has received its first World Heritage Site recognition, thanks to forests of the Gola-Tiwai Complex. The complex is home to “more 1,000 plant species (113 are endemic), more than 55 mammals (19 are globally threatened), as well as key species such the African Forest Elephant or Pygmy Hippopotamus.” according to UNESCO.
The final additions included the coastal region of Guinea-Bissau—also in West Africa—and Mount Kumgang in North Korea.
