    Viking Sails Its First River Voyages In India

    Viking announced a new river journey through one of India’s most captivating regions is coming soon—and it promises an unforgettable blend of culture, comfort, and adventure.

    Viking has announced the launch of a new riverboat tour to India via the Brahmaputra on the Viking Brahmaputra. The Brahmaputra River runs through three different countries: Northeastern India; Bangladesh and Southwest China.

    The 80-guest vessel with 40 outside staterooms is currently under construction and is scheduled to debut in 2027, when it will set sail between two cities—Guwahati and Nimati Ghat—in the northeastern state of Assam. The ship will feature the Scandinavian style of Viking, with staterooms that have floor-to ceiling sliding glass doors, verandas, a fitness center and spa, as well as an open-air lounge bar.

    Guests will be able to visit Guwahati temple, explore the Kaziranga National Park in Assam, search for rhinoceros and buffaloes, and discover the cultures on the Majuli river island.

    The launch of the Viking Brahmaputra The new Viking 15-day itinerary includes:Wonders of India“, which includes an 8-day Brahmaputra river cruise as well as a guided program on land with overnight stays at popular destinations such as Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. 

    The “Wonders of India’ voyage begins and ends in Delhi, India’s capital, with the hotel stays in between. This itinerary will take guests to up to 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It immerses travelers in India’s rich cultural heritage and treasure. Explore the Golden Triangle to learn about India’s rich history. Taj Mahal in AgraStrolling through the tangled streets of Old DelhiAnd visiting Jaipur’s Palace of the Winds.
