US/UK: Hotel and golf resort brand Marine & Lawn has expanded its portfolio in Scotland and North Carolina, marking the group’s debut in the United States.
AJ Capital Partners, which owns the Marine & Lawn brand, has acquired the Greywalls Hotel next to Muirfield Golf Course in Scotland, alongside the Mid Pines Inn and Pine Needles Lodge in the Pinehurst region of North Carolina.
AJ Capital’s design team will renovate the Mid Pines Inn & Pine Needles Lodge. These two 1920s sister properties, which sit alongside Donald Ross-designed championship golf courses, are undergoing a renovation.
Planned improvements include new dining concepts and updated public areas. The hotel guests will have priority access to golf courses, and golf packages.
Greywalls was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1901 and landscape designer Gertrude Jekyll. The Weaver family has owned it since 1926.
Greywalls guests will have access to Muirfield through a partnership with The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. The hotel will also undergo a renovation of its interiors and F&B programming.

The latest hotel additions brings the Marine & Lawn portfolio to eight properties.
