Bromley will be experiencing something special this Autumn. After years of silence — and more than £10 million of investment – the Grade II-listed Royal Bell is reopening: restored, reimagined, and ready to begin its next chapter as a boutique hotel, a welcoming community hub, a dynamic dining and entertainment destination with a private members’ club and co-working space. After dark, first-floor lounges and bars transform into a place for professionals and creatives looking for a destination cocktail venue that offers a candlelit atmosphere and entertainment ranging from DJ sets to live musical performances.

For generations, The Royal Bell has been more than just a building — it was at the very centre of Bromley’s heartbeat. This historic venue, which has been restored in a thoughtful manner, offers guests and members an elegant retreat to work, play, and celebrate right in the middle of Bromley. The Royal Bell was originally built in the 1666 by Ernest Newton and redesigned again in 1898. It has always been a place of creativity, hospitality and heritage. The Royal Bell has hosted Queen Victoria, Jane Austen and David Bowie. It is a historic venue.

It enters a brand new era, where history and contemporary lifestyle meet, thanks to the investment of The BELLE Collective. The Royal Bell, spread over five floors, offers a carefully-curated experience that combines historic charm and modern hospitality.

Bromley’s Own Leads the way in Vision

The BELLE Collective has led the revival of The Royal Bell in a way that is very personal. Every family behind The BELLE Collective—has roots in South East London. They don’t only have memories of growing up here; they also have a connection to the place. They—their parents, and even their grandparents—once danced in the ballroom, marked life’s milestones, and watched the building stand quietly for years. Always part of the story. Always part of the view. When the chance came up to bring it home, it was not just about business. It was about giving meaning to their lives, leaving a legacy and returning something to the place they grew up in.

Mark Goldberg is the leader of The BELLE Collective. He is a local entrepreneur and businessman born and raised in Beckenham and Bromley with more than 30 years’ experience running both public and private companies within the recruitment, property development and football industries. The BELLE Collective developed The Royal Bell project with Mark’s vision in mind. The community, who will be enjoying and benefiting from the building’s many benefits under Mark’s leadership and care for years to come, will greatly enjoy it.

Nick Gold was a founding partner of China White as well as The Hippodrome Leicester Square, and The Box Soho. Nick is an entrepreneur who acts as a strategic advisor to The BELLE Collectio, bringing global ideas to the project.

Shelana Investments is a family-run real estate office run by cousins Jamie Gold & Max Cohen. Their portfolio is rooted central London and built upon the legacy of Michael Simmons, their grandfather. Michael, the son of Polish immigrants and raised in London’s East End, was a successful fashion designer. He started with nothing—selling women’s dresses out of the back of a van—and built one of the UK’s leading fashion businesses through the ’80s and ’90s. He then turned his attention to real estate. His ambition, taste, and principles shaped the way he did business—and the way he raised his family. He spent the majority of his life living in Chislehurst. This kept him close to South London streets, which shaped him. The Royal Bell felt like a personal property when it was up for auction.

Jon is a seasoned hospitality professional, with more than 30 years’ experience in hotels, bars and restaurants. He will guide the management of The Royal Bell for the benefit to the community. Jon specialises in hotel & food and beverage strategies, advising developers and operators across the UK and Europe. Jon’s previous role as a founder partner of The ONE Group EMEA was pivotal in securing and developing landmark projects like ME Hotel London STK and The Hippodrome throughout London, Ibiza Dubai and Milan. Jon’s most recent role was to launch Virgin Hotels in Europe and Sircle Collections first London and UK operation.

Together, they’ve approached this project not just with ambition—but with care. When something is so important to a community they believe it’s not enough to just rebuild it. They bring it back lovingly.

    Timeless Heritage and Contemporary Comfort

Architectural elements at the Royal Bell were restored in a way that respects its historical character. Attention to detail was paid to everything from the Carrara marble staircase down to the intricate cornices of the period. Hampton Design Studio led the team in creating a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere. The space is ready to create new memories with a new group of people.
