Lamangata Luxury Surf Resort is now accepting reservations after its grand opening earlier this year. This intimate all-inclusive resort is nestled 1,200 feet up in the air, where the rainforest canopy meets with the clouds. It features six suites that face the ocean, just 10 minutes away from Dominical’s world-class surfing breaks. Lamangata offers a unique experience for guests to reconnect with nature. The resort features a highly personalized surf program, wellness programs and meals that are tailored to the individual guest.
“Lamangata is carefully designed to be in harmony with the natural world and with a commitment to sustainability,” stated Debbie Gruelle, Lamangata founder and designer, whose experience in luxury realty and design was formed by years at Toll Brothers, Inc., which was founded by Bob Toll, her father, a pioneer in luxury homebuilding. Our values of community, nature and culture guide everything we do, from our solar-powered systems, to the local ingredients and team that welcomes you. We hope that guests will feel inspired and grounded after spending a week surfing in secluded spots and reconnecting with nature.
Gruelle designed and envisioned every aspect of this resort. It combines a calm, understated luxury with privacy that is often lacking in larger properties. The communal spaces, such as the open-air dining table, the viewing deck and the pool bar, were created to promote connection. Meanwhile, the six suites are filled with light. Each suite is equipped with king-sized beds and organic bedding. It also features teak floors, vaulted roofs, rainfall showers and floor to ceiling glass doors leading out onto private terraces that offer panoramic views of the coastline and jungle. Lamangata’s intimate scale and thoughtfully-designed layout make it ideal for full buyouts. It can be used as a supervilla for small groups, families and retreats.
PERSONALIZED SURF COMMUNITY COACHING Lamangata’s Surf Program welcomes all skill level surfers. From complete beginners to advanced surfers seeking to elevate their technique. With low guest to coach ratios (1, 1:2 or 1:3) guests get personalized coaching that is tailored to their comfort and goals. Each session starts with a dynamic warming-up, followed by a brief pop-up-refresher. Depending on the ocean conditions and the guest’s experience, surf spots can include the beginner-friendly Dominicalito or the mellow Playa Hermosa, Playa Linda, or the world class waves at Dominical. Coaches at Lamangata use video and drone footage to provide tailored feedback, accelerating learning while maintaining a fun, empowering experience.
LUXURY AMENITIES SET IN A NATURAL SETTING Lamangata has a range of amenities to help you relax, rejuvenate and restore your energy. This includes an infinity lap swimming pool with a swim lane the size of an Olympic medal, a teakwood studio for yoga, a massage area overlooking the ocean, a bocce court and a relaxation room.
Each guest is offered a customized wellness program that includes in-suite massages, terrace or beachside treatments performed by therapists with expertise in hot stone, lymphatic drainage, Reiki and deep tissue. The studio offers sessions such as Vinyasa Hatha, Yin Restorative Sound Bath and other styles led by experienced local instructors. The resort can arrange for guests to visit nearby wellness centers that offer herbal bath rituals as well as cold plunge circuits, IV therapy and other therapies.
GOURMENT, CUSTOMIZED DINING: Lamangata offers a fully customized culinary experience. There is no restaurant on site, only gourmet chefs who prepare custom menus according to each guest’s preferences, restrictions, and cravings. All meals feature local and seasonal ingredients. There are also vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan options.
Breakfasts feature gallo pinto and avocado toast with crispy chili egg. Lunch includes globally inspired dishes such as Thai salads, Greek grains bowls, or empanadas. Evenings feature bold flavors, comfort food, and a variety of cuisines. All meals are completed by house-made sauces, breads and desserts – such as the homemade mango sorbet.
After-surf snacks include fruit and burritos. Nightly hors d’oeuvres feature dishes such as tiradito topped with leche de tiegre, naan topped with hummus and patacones topped with pico.
