BWH Hotels (the company behind Best Western, among other brands) added 100 hotels to its portfolio in the first six months of the year. A large part of the growth came from international markets. The challenge? Other major players are also aggressively expanding their global reach.
The Phoenix-based hotel group is focusing on high-demand areas such as Latin America, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East. It aims to expand its footprint by 16 percent, reaching 5,000 hotels globally within five years.
BWH’s President and CEO, Larry Cuculic stated, “We are not only meeting the constant demand for travel but we are anticipating it.”
BWH announced this week that it has more than 200 hotels in its pipeline, which represents 15,000 hotel rooms. The company signed eight new Middle East hotels this year and plans to have 70 hotels in the region by 2027. In India, the company has 50 open hotels and more in the pipeline.
Recent additions range from luxury properties such as the Soul Spring Sanctuary, in Mexico, to the group’s very first glamping (Zion Wildflower Resort), near Zion National Park.
